Restoration

The restoration of historic elements requires precision, restraint and respect for the original craftsmanship. A historic window is never just a technical element; it is part of the architectural identity of the building and shapes both the character of the façade and the quality of the interior space.

Preserving Original Fabric with Technical Precision

Antikhaus restores historic windows and doors with the aim of preserving as much of the original substance as possible. Every restoration begins with a detailed inspection and assessment of the existing elements — timber, profiles, glazing, fittings and accessories are evaluated individually to determine what can be preserved, what requires professional consolidation and what needs to be precisely replicated.

What makes us unique is our ability to combine, within a single project, the restoration of original elements with the production of faithful replicas of windows and doors. This allows us to preserve as much original material as possible where feasible, while completing missing or damaged parts in a way that creates a coherent result and respects the historic character of the building.

Damaged timber is repaired only where it is truly necessary for the strength and long-term function of the element. We use materials that match the original wood in both appearance and physical properties.

Historic fittings and other original components are preserved wherever possible, professionally restored and integrated back into the element. We do not replace them with modern substitutes unless it is necessary.

Every intervention follows the logic of the original construction. When improved performance is required — for example upgraded glazing, sealing or surface treatment — we look for solutions that do not alter the profile, proportions or visible character of the historic window or door.
