Reproduction of Historic Windows and Doors
The reproduction of historic windows and doors requires more than visual imitation. It demands a precise understanding of proportion, profile, material, and construction so that a new element can belong naturally to a historic building.
Exact Reproduction Based on Existing Fabric, Not Standard Catalogues
Weather bars — Made from a single piece of wood, with direct connection to the glass.
Custom manufacturing — Each window is developed in close collaboration with clients, architects, and heritage authorities, based on the original windows and the architectural requirements of the façade.
The manufacturing process also includes careful sealing of the end grain of the wooden profiles, known as Hirnholzversiegelung, which protects the wood against excessive moisture absorption.
Where original windows or doors have been lost, irreparably damaged, or are structurally insufficient, Antikhaus manufactures accurate reproductions based on the original fabric where available. When no original element remains, the design is developed through typological analysis, regional building conventions, and the architectural logic of the existing structure, ensuring consistency in profile, proportion, moulding, hardware, and finish.

No visible industrial joints — No V-grooves, which are commonly used today to accelerate window production. The joints in the frames and sashes of our windows are smooth.
Advanced security — Burglar-resistant windows up to RC 4 and bullet-resistant constructions up to FB 4 nS — in the slimmest possible profiles.
Every reproduction is individually developed. Details such as glazing bars, weather bars, panels, and hardware are treated as integral construction elements — specified and manufactured to suit the building, not as generic additions.
Antikhaus works with the full range of historically appropriate systems: slim-profile, coupled, box, vertical sliding, outward-opening, and project-specific special constructions. Modern production technology is used where it supports precision and consistency — always in service of an architecturally correct result.
Our Windows
All our window types are developed and manufactured in close collaboration with clients, architects, and heritage authorities. The starting point is always the original window and the architectural requirements of the façade.
This includes sightlines, slim timber sections, narrow transom and meeting-stile profiles, mouldings, weather bars, hardware, putty bevel detailing, custom milling, and all decorative and structural details.

Technical Options on Request
All our window and door systems can be equipped with additional performance features according to the specific requirements of each project. Depending on the need, we integrate sound insulation, burglar resistance up to RC 4, and bullet resistance up to FB 4 nS — always in the slimmest possible timber sections and without compromising the historic appearance of the façade.
