Restoration

Historic restoration is an exercise in precision, restraint, and respect. A historic window is never just a technical component; it is part of the architectural identity of the building, shaping both the character of the façade and the quality of the interior space.

Preserving Original Fabric with Technical Precision

Antikhaus restores historic windows and doors with the aim of preserving as much original material as possible. Every restoration begins with a detailed survey and condition assessment of the existing elements. Timber, profiles, glazing, fittings, and hardware are examined individually to determine what can be preserved, consolidated, or faithfully reproduced.

Damaged timber is repaired only where structurally necessary, using compatible materials that match the visible section and physical behavior of the original. Historic fittings and hardware are restored and reintegrated — not replaced with modern substitutes.

All interventions follow the structural logic of the original element. Where improved performance is required — glazing upgrades, sealing, or surface treatment — solutions are integrated without altering the profile geometry or visible character of the window or door.
