Our Standards

At Antikhaus, standards are not limitations. They are the discipline that ensures every window and door meets the demands of heritage architecture with consistency, precision, and long-term reliability.

Durability as a Design Principle

Antikhaus windows and doors are designed to outperform standard market products in service life, structural integrity, and long-term dimensional stability. This is not a marketing claim — it is the direct result of our material specifications, profile development, and production control.

Material Selection

Wood species are selected based on structural density, moisture behavior, and compatibility with the intended coating system. All timber is sorted, conditioned, and brought to a controlled moisture content before processing. Material selection is project-specific — determined by the structural requirements of the element, not by cost optimization.

Profile Development

Each profile is precision-milled specifically for the project. Joints are engineered for long-term mechanical performance under alternating thermal and moisture loads. Profile geometries are developed to achieve the slimmest possible sightlines while maintaining the structural section required for the specified performance level.

Surface Treatment

Antikhaus uses a traditional linseed-oil-based coating system as standard. Unlike conventional film-forming paints, linseed oil penetrates the wood substrate and protects the material from within. The technical result:

Superior moisture regulation — the wood can breathe, reducing the risk of trapped moisture and rot.

Deeper substrate protection — coating failure does not expose raw wood directly to the weather.

Extended maintenance intervals — recoating requires only surface preparation, not complete stripping.

Natural ageing behavior — consistent with the visual expectations of historic façades.

Production Control

All manufacturing is carried out in-house under controlled workshop conditions. No critical production steps are outsourced. Profile milling, joint construction, glazing, hardware installation, and surface treatment are executed and inspected within a single production chain. This eliminates interface tolerances between trades and ensures dimensional consistency across every element delivered to the construction site.

The Result

The combination of controlled material selection, precision engineering, in-house production, and deep-penetrating surface treatment results in windows and doors with a significantly longer service life than standard alternatives. For architects and building owners, this means lower lifecycle costs, reduced maintenance frequency, and long-term preservation of the architectural quality of the façade.

We build to standards that protect proportion, preserve material integrity, and ensure that every historic window or door is worthy of the architecture to which it belongs.

At Antikhaus, standards are not a matter of simplification. They are a matter of discipline.
